The Job Information Center has books that will help you design a resume. We have books that give examples of various resumes for specific jobs or careers. We also have a book that will help you create a resume for your first job or people that are rentering the work force. One title of a resume book that I found interesting was “The Resume Handbook:How to Writer Outstanding Resume & Cover Letters for Every Situation”. Come and check out these great resources in the Job Information Center on the fourth floor of the Bausch & Lomb Building.
We have a Small Business Center at the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County. The Center has a unique reference collection of over 700 books available on small business topics. These topics include organizing an enterprise, writing a business plan, solving personnel issues, finding a location and obtaining financing. Additional copies of book titles in the reference collection are available for patrons to borrow. The Small Business Center has a wealth of information, including computer based databases. It is really great for someone just beginning their small business or someone who has been in business for a while. A sole proprietor small business owner recently visited the Center to get ideas on how to grow her business. She stated “I have been in business for fourteen years. I should have come here years ago”.
We have a clippings file of local corporations that include current news articles. We have the big corporations like Xerox, Kodak, Paychex etc, but we also have files for some of the lesser known businesses. We also clip articles that cover our subject matters: i.e. elections, taxation, schools, crime. This can be helpful if you are doing a paper and your focus is Rochester.
