Domestic Violence

In October 1987, the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month was observed. Also a national toll free hotline was established. Then, in 1989, commerative legislation was passed by the United States congress.

Then in October 1994, the National Coalition against Domestic Violence and Ms. Magazine created a national registry to increase public awareness of domestic violence deaths. Now a poster is produced annually listing the names of women who were killed by an intimate partner that year.
