Next month, which is just around the corner is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. This is a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. APA Heritage month originated in a congressional bill, just like Black History and Women’s History celebrations. It is currently celebrated with community festivals, government-sponsored activities and educational activities for students. We have a selection of books on our webpage. Take a look at the following link below. We have a display in the library as well. Come in and check it out!
You might be surprised to know that the last day to file taxes in 2011, for the 2010 tax year, is April 18th, 2011. It’s been pushed back a few days this year because of the way the weekend falls and because of Emancipation Day, a holiday celebrated by Washington D.C., which is the 16th. Emancipation Day is on a Saturday this year and will have to be recognized on Friday, the 15th. Since the IRS is in D.C. that means federal taxes aren’t due for individuals until April 18th.
